Spiro, who has previously represented Alec Baldwin, confirmed to Court TV that he is looking into Diddy's potential involvement. Diddy, currently facing federal charges of sex trafficking and kidnapping, has long denied any connection to the 1996 Las Vegas shooting that killed Shakur​.

Although Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested in 2023 for Shakur’s murder, Davis has previously implicated Combs in the planning of the attack. A detective testifying before the grand jury that indicted Davis also claimed that Suge Knight had suggested Combs was “responsible, if not directly, indirectly” for the murder​.

Diddy has repeatedly refuted any involvement in Shakur's death, with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirming that he has “never been considered a suspect”​. Meanwhile, rappers like Eminem have reignited allegations against Combs in recent songs, drawing further attention to the case.
