Texas authorities issued a Blue Alert early Friday for 33-year-old Seth Altman, wanted in connection with the shooting of a law enforcement officer in Memphis, Texas.

Altman, a white male standing 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 220 pounds, with blue eyes and red hair, was last seen around 11 p.m. Thursday on S. 4th St. in Memphis, a small city in Hall County, approximately 80 miles southeast of Amarillo. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans.

Authorities have warned that Altman is considered "armed and dangerous" and urge the public not to approach him. The Hall County Sheriff's Office stated that Altman is wanted for his involvement in the injury of a law enforcement officer.

While officials have not confirmed the officer's identity, local media reports suggest the victim is Memphis Police Chief Rex Plant. The officer, who was shot multiple times, was flown to Amarillo for medical treatment, but his condition remains unknown.

Texans are advised to call 911 if they spot Altman. Blue Alerts are issued when law enforcement seeks a suspect involved in the serious injury or death of an officer. Further details about the case were not immediately available Friday morning.
