TIME Reveals the 2024 TIME100 Next List of Emerging Leaders Shaping the Future

The 2024 TIME100 Next list is here, spotlighting trailblazers set to redefine leadership in every industry.

TIME has unveiled its highly anticipated 2024 TIME100 Next list, celebrating 100 rising leaders across various fields—entertainment, politics, activism, business, and more—who are shaping the future. This year’s list showcases individuals pushing boundaries and setting new standards in leadership, creativity, and influence.

For 2024, TIME features three distinct global covers, spotlighting singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter, NBA player Jaylen Brown, and Springboard To Opportunities CEO Aisha Nyandoro. In his editor’s letter, TIME Editor-in-Chief Sam Jacobs writes: “The TIME100 Next list was created to recognize that many of today's most influential leaders are individuals who are not waiting long in life to make an impact. Nor are they eager to respect the status quo by following the traditional power structures and pathways that have determined what influence looked like in the past.” This year's list not only highlights today’s most impactful stories but also introduces the future faces of leadership.

Highlights from the 2024 TIME100 Next:

The 2024 TIME100 Next list pairs honorees with prominent guest contributors who celebrate their achievements. Shonda Rhimes reflects on Nicola Coughlan, Christina Aguilera writes about Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo on Laufey, and Colin Kaepernick on Jaylen Brown.

This year’s list highlights several influential women, including Victoria Monét, Reneé Rapp, Kaitlan Collins, and Amelia Dimoldenberg, making up over half of the honorees. Artists and entertainers such as Aaron Pierre, Vince Staples, Beabadoobee, and Payal Kapadia also feature, alongside emerging athletes like Fred Richard, C.J. Stroud, and Jannik Sinner.

Political and Business Leaders:

U.S. political figures on the list include Maryland Gov. Wes Moore and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear. The business and technology world is represented by leaders like Nik Storonsky, Aadith Moorthy, and Hali Borenstein, highlighting those pushing innovation and growth across industries.

Advocates for Peace and Climate Action:

The 2024 TIME100 Next list shines a light on figures advocating for peace, equality, and climate action, including Palestinian food blogger Hamada Shaqoura and peace advocates Alon-Lee Green and Rula Daood.

Shaqoura, a 33-year-old marketing professional turned wartime food blogger, has gained attention for documenting the resilience of Palestinians under Israeli bombardment. His videos, shared across social media, showcase his efforts to cook and distribute meals to children in Gaza’s refugee camps using scarce ingredients. “I took it upon myself to make delicious and clean food for the children of the tents,” Shaqoura told TIME. His work brings much-needed attention to Gaza’s dire food poverty situation, where 90% of children suffer from severe food insecurity.

Alon-Lee Green and Rula Daood, co-directors of Standing Together, have emerged as powerful voices of resistance, promoting Arab-Jewish solidarity amidst escalating tensions in the region. Their grassroots movement advocates for peace, equality, and justice, opposing Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories. Despite facing harassment and threats, Green and Daood have committed to ensuring aid reaches Gaza while fostering unity between Jewish and Arab communities. Green explains, “Crisis can give you clarity.”

Honoring Global Youth Leaders:

Among the youngest honorees is Canadian swimming sensation Summer McIntosh, an 18-year-old three-time Olympian who stands as a symbol of youth-driven excellence.

Celebrating Leadership and Change:

The 2024 TIME100 Next list exemplifies diverse leadership across industries, honoring individuals championing causes from climate action to cultural innovation. The annual TIME100 Next event will take place on October 9 in New York City, where honorees like Jaylen Brown, Nicola Coughlan, and Victoria Monét will deliver remarks. Sabrina Carpenter will also perform, adding an exciting flair to the celebration.

Now in its fifth year, the TIME100 Next list has become a significant platform for recognizing rising global stars who are challenging the norms and shaping the future. As TIME Editor-in-Chief Sam Jacobs remarks, “TIME100 Next has no age requirements; it aims to recognize that influence does not have them either, nor does leadership look like it once did.”
