Xbox Live is reportedly up and running after two hours of disruption, following a major outage that left players unable to log in, play online games, or stream titles.

The outage began at 3:40 AM PT / 6:40 AM ET on October 2, and Xbox players faced difficulties with account profiles, social activities, and cloud gaming.

According to Xbox’s status page, the issues affected various services, including joining gaming parties and starting cloud games, while other services, such as the store, online safety, and subscriptions, remained unaffected.

Some users have drawn comparisons to the previous day’s PlayStation Network outage, which lasted eight hours and similarly disrupted gaming for PlayStation 4 and 5 users. Despite speculation of a coordinated attack, there is no evidence to support this theory.

After two hours of downtime, Xbox support announced that users should now be able to sign in, play games, and join parties. However, it is unclear when the issues will be fully resolved. Neither Sony nor Microsoft has publicly explained the cause of these outages.
