Drake unfollows LeBron James, Kendrick Lamar and Playboi Carti, continues following Future on IG
Before the start of the 2024-25 NBA season, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James faced what could be his most surprising loss yet: Drake has unfollowed him on Instagram.
This revelation, reported by NBACentral, has fueled speculation about a rift between the two high-profile personalities.
For months, internet sleuths have pointed to signs of tension, suggesting that James may have upset Drake by attending Kendrick Lamar's "Pop Out" concert in June.
The performance marked a significant point in the long-standing rivalry between Drake and Lamar, with both artists competing to outdo each other through diss tracks, leaving many fans to believe Lamar emerged victorious.
Despite their previous camaraderie—most notably during James' successful playoff runs against the Toronto Raptors—Drake's decision to unfollow James has raised eyebrows.
The pair seemed to maintain their friendship even as James consistently defeated the Raptors during his second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
However, it appears that attending the Kendrick Lamar concert may have been a step too far for Drake.
In addition to the fallout over the unfollow, Drake is also navigating scrutiny regarding his relationship with Lamar.
A representative for Drake confirmed to Page Six's Tamantha Ryan that the rapper did not issue a cease and desist letter to Lamar to prevent him from performing "Not Like Us" during the halftime show at Super Bowl LIX.
