PMD forecasts hot, dry conditions across Pakistan

Higher districts of K-P to see partly cloudy skies, with isolated rain, thunderstorms in KP, Punjab, Kashmir, and GB

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting hot and dry conditions across most parts of the country, with isolated regions expected to experience rain.

The hot and dry weather is likely to persist in various areas, including Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and most districts of Punjab. However, the higher districts of KP may see partly cloudy skies during this period.

In Balochistan, most areas are also expected to remain hot and dry, although districts such as Barkhan, Awaran, and Khuzdar may experience gusty winds along with thunderstorms and localized rain.

The PMD forecast indicates that between September 30 and October 6, 2024, hot and dry conditions will dominate much of the country.

Isolated rain and thunderstorms are expected in parts of Kashmir on October 4, with similar weather predicted for upper KP, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and central and southern Punjab on October 5.

By October 6, hot and dry weather will continue to affect most areas, though isolated rain and thunderstorms may occur in KP, Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Karachi Weather Update

For Karachi, the PMD forecast partly cloudy skies with hot and humid weather over the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius, while the current temperature stands at 28 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature recorded is 27.5 degrees Celsius, with the heat index feeling like 33 degrees Celsius. Winds are blowing from the west at 15 kilometres per hour.

The PMD advises residents to stay prepared for continued hot conditions, with the possibility of rain in isolated regions across the country.
