According to Express News, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to take legal action against the roadblocks placed during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Rawalpindi.

According to sources, the provincial government has decided to pursue legal action against the closure of routes for convoys traveling from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the PTI protest in Rawalpindi.

The government subsequently sought legal advice from the Advocate General concerning the roadblocks and the teargas used on peaceful protesters.

Consultations with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advocate General Shah Faisal have been completed, during which it was highlighted that preventing the province’s elected Chief Minister and its people from participating in the protest violates Article 15 of the Constitution.

Separate cases could be filed regarding the road closures and teargas incidents. FIRs could be lodged in both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

Sources also added that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will consult with the party leadership regarding the cases against the roadblocks and tear gas, after which further action will be taken.

Earlier, the Rawalpindi police registered three additional terrorism cases against PTI founder Imran Khan and chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, following the violent protests that took place on September 28 at Liaquat Bagh along Murree Road.

These cases, which include serious accusations of inciting violence against state institutions, also name Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

The FIR alleges that Imran Khan, from Adiala Jail, called for the protests, with Ali Amin Gandapur playing an active role in the unrest.

The charges, filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act (Section 7), also encompass allegations of attempted murder, breaches of Section 144, and other terrorism-related offenses.

In addition, both the PTI chairman and the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister have been directly implicated in aiding and abetting under Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
