In a historic moment for The Voice Season 26, an artist has returned to the stage after a 13-year gap, making them the first contestant to come back after previously joining a team. Felsmere, formerly known as Kelsey Rey, wowed viewers and judges alike during her recent performance of "Some Kind of Wonderful" on the September 30th episode, securing her place on Gwen Stefani's team.

Felsmere initially competed in Season 1 of The Voice under her real name, Kelsey Rey, where she impressed judges Adam Levine, CeeLo Green, and Christina Aguilera with her rendition of "American Boy." At that time, she joined Team CeeLo but was eliminated after the Battles. Thirteen years later, the 33-year-old returned with a new sound and renewed confidence, making her the first artist to ever rejoin the competition after already being on a team.

This unprecedented return has sparked conversations among fans, many of whom believed it wasn’t allowed for a former team member to compete again. Typically, artists who don't advance past the Blind Auditions are invited back for another chance. However, Felsmere’s return breaks the norm and highlights the evolving rules of the competition.

Gwen Stefani and Michael Bublé both turned their chairs during Felsmere’s performance, but it was the No Doubt singer who successfully added her to her team. Stefani’s decision could be a pivotal one, as Felsmere’s experience and growth over the years have made her a stronger competitor.

Felsmere spoke about her journey, saying, “Season 1 was the best experience of my life, but I was young and timid. I’m coming back with a new sound, and I hope the coaches love it.”

The Voice continues to bring surprises, and Felsmere’s return sets a new precedent, leaving fans eagerly awaiting what the rest of Season 26 will bring. Tune in to The Voice on NBC every Monday and Tuesday to see how this season unfolds.
