ISLAMABAD:

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has issued a formal notice to Imran Arif Janjua, Deputy Administrator (Plazas) of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), requiring his appearance for a verification process related to a bribery and fraud investigation.

The notice, issued under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) 1898, follows a complaint by Muhammad Shabbir. Janjua is directed to appear before Deputy Director Muhammad Afzal Khan Niazi on October 3, 2024, to provide critical information regarding the case.

The notice requires Janjua to submit any relevant documentary or digital evidence and warns of legal consequences for non-compliance or false information. Failure to appear may result in further legal actions.

The complaint alleges that Janjua accepted a substantial bribe in exchange for a government job for Shabbir's nephew, Shehroze Iqbal. According to Shabbir, Janjua demanded Rs5 million to secure the position of Naib Tehsildar. Shabbir claims he paid Rs3 million in cash, with witnesses present, but Janjua failed to deliver the promised job after six months.

Shabbir has called for criminal proceedings against Janjua and an inquiry into his assets. Janjua has denied the allegations, claiming they are unfounded.
