Toshakhana 2.0: Court rejects post-arrest bail pleas of Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi

A special judge central on Monday rejected the post-arrest bail pleas of incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana 2.0 case.
The court has scheduled an indictment for October 2, Express News reported.
The hearing took place before Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjmand at Adiala Jail, where the prosecution, represented by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi, presented its case.
The prosecution asserted that Imran obtained a Bulgari set worth 70 million rupees for just Rs2.9 million.
They further claimed that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) acquired the original price of the set through the Foreign Office.
The prosecution's argument included details about the contents of the Bulgari set, which reportedly included a necklace, earrings, bracelet, and a ring.
They alleged that Imran, during his tenure as the premier, undervalued the set's market price at Rs5.8 million and kept the gift from the state without depositing it in the Toshakhana.
In response, Imran Khan's lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, argued that the current case was similar to a previous reference involving the same allegations and witnesses.
He contended that following the Supreme Court’s restoration of NAB amendments, the case should be dismissed. However, the special judge ultimately rejected the bail requests after considering both parties' arguments.
With the denial of bail, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi will now prepare to face charges in the upcoming hearing set for October 2.
