Raspberry Pi has launched a new AI Camera module in collaboration with Sony, priced at $70 and aimed at developers working on edge AI solutions.
The AI Camera integrates Raspberry Pi's RP2040 microcontroller with Sony's IMX500 image sensor, enabling users to process visual data without needing extra components like GPUs or accelerators.
This release continues Raspberry Pi's expansion into AI technology, building on its history of camera modules dating back to 2013.
The 12.3-megapixel camera can capture 10 frames per second at 4056 x 3040 resolution, or 40 frames per second at a lower 2028 x 1520 resolution. Featuring a 76-degree field of view and manually adjustable focus, the module is nearly the same size as last year’s Camera Module 3.

The new AI camera is compatible with all Raspberry Pi single-board computers, further expanding the range of AI applications for developers.
