LAHORE:

A plea challenging the imposition of Section 144 has been challenged in the Lahore High Court.

The petitioner claimed that such tactics were being used to stop the PTI from organising its political activities.

The petitioner, Naji Ullah, filed the plea through Advocate Azhar Siddique, requesting the court to set aside a notification issued on Friday for the imposition of Section 144.

He prayed the court that PTI's workers, supporters and leaders be allowed to organise peaceful processions, rallies, gatherings and protests in accordance with law.

He raised the question why the section was only imposed whenever the PTI announced its public gatherings. He contended that it was tantamount to depriving the party of its right to exercise its right of organising political activities.

He prayed the court to set aside the notification issued on September 27 and allow the PTI to organise its public gatherings as scheduled.
