'China's progress serves as inspiration for developing nations'

Pakistani consul general praises leadership, highlights strategic partnership

"Over the past 75 years, China has achieved significant milestones incrementally, steadily, and peacefully. This multidimensional progress and socio-economic transformation have not only established China as a global leader but have also inspired other developing countries to emulate its success," stated Shehzad Ahmad Khan, the Pakistani Consul General in Shanghai.

In a recent interview marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Khan attributed the country's remarkable transformation to its exceptional leadership and long-term vision.

"As I walk the streets of Shanghai, a microcosm of China's meteoric rise, I am struck by the tangible evidence of the country's economic prowess and social transformation," remarked Khan. He highlighted China's leap from a low starting point to high-speed growth, now progressing toward high-quality development, which has lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty. This, he said, is a testament of China's commitment to inclusive growth.

The consul general also highlighted China's technological advancements, noting its leadership in fields such as artificial intelligence, 5G technology, and renewable energy. He cited China's railway network, which has exceeded 160,000 kilometres, with the high-speed rail system alone spanning over 46,000 kilometres, consistently ranking among the world's best. These advancements are supported by a vibrant tech industry that has produced giants like Alibaba and Huawei, both of which collaborate with Pakistan.

"China has emerged as a global leader, sharing its progress, prosperity, and perspectives with developing countries through initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), along with global development, security, and civilisation platforms," Khan added. He underscored the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which exemplifies the strategic partnership and showcases the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation.

Pakistan has been a steadfast supporter of China since the founding of the People's Republic in 1949. It was among the first nations to recognise the new China and the first Islamic country to establish diplomatic ties in 1951. This historic step laid the foundation for a deepening partnership that continues to flourish between the two nations.
