Vice President Kamala Harris is under scrutiny following her recent visit to the U.S.-Mexico border in Douglas, Arizona.

Harris was seen wearing a Tiffany & Co. gold necklace from the “HardWear” collection, which some critics claimed was valued at $70,000. The necklace's bold, graduated link design, known for its industrial and edgy aesthetic, led some to question its appropriateness during a visit centered on immigration and economic disparity.

Critics, including journalist Laura Loomer, raised concerns about the optics of wearing luxury jewelry in a region facing economic challenges. Some suggested that such displays of wealth could be perceived as disconnected from the struggles of everyday Americans.

Harris had previously worn the same necklace during the State of the Union address in March 2024. The Tiffany “HardWear” collection, inspired by New York City’s architecture and street style, features statement pieces, including the gold graduated link necklace, which consists of oversized interlocking links in 18k gold.

However, according to sources such as WhatKamalaWore.com and Tiffany’s official website, the necklace is priced at $18,500, significantly lower than the $70,000 estimate.

Despite this, the incident has sparked broader discussions about the public’s perception of political figures and their lifestyle choices, especially during times of economic uncertainty.
