JARANWALA:

The need to revive Punjabi culture and language was emphasised by University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan during the inauguration of the Waris Shah Chair at the UAF's Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

Speaking at the event, Dr Iqrar highlighted the declining trend of Punjabi culture and stressed the importance of spreading the teachings of Sufi saints like Waris Shah among the younger generation.

"Waris Shah was a legend of Punjabi language, and his portrayal of life in 18th-century Punjab remains unparalleled," said Dr Iqrar.

The newly formed Faculty of Arts and Humanities, he added, would play a crucial role in promoting cultural and literary activities.
