Police probe deepens after latest killing mirrors previous murders in town

The body of an unidentified woman was discovered floating in the Lower Gogera Branch canal near Buchiana Head Bangla in the Saddar Police Station's jurisdiction, Jaranwala.

The woman had been shot in the head before being thrown into the canal.

A passer-by spotted the body in the canal and informed police in the canal.

SHO Mehar Riaz Athwal, along with a police team, responded to the scene. Rescue personnel retrieved the body and handed it over to the police for further investigation.

Police revealed that the body appeared fresh, indicating that the woman had been recently killed. Efforts are underway to identify the victim, as the police search for her family.

This incident is the latest in a troubling pattern. In recent days, two other young women's bodies were also found in the Saddar Jaranwala area, similarly murdered and dumped by the roadside.

The police are treating this case with urgency, and investigations continue to determine the circumstances behind the killings.

On September 22, two young girls were brutally shot and killed, with their bodies discarded along a roadside in Saddar Jaranwala area.

Police had received information that two bodies were found between Chak 72 and 73 GB. Upon receiving the tip-off, SP Town Malik Abid Hussain Zafar and SHO Riaz Athwal, along with a police team, rushed to the scene.

The bodies, which have yet to be identified, were transported to the hospital for further investigation.
