The Punjab government will launch five new hybrid double-decker buses on new routes in Lahore to promote tourism.

Additionally, one double-decker bus each will be added in Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi, according to Express News.

Double-decker bus services will also start in Multan and Faisalabad to enhance tourism.

During the launch event, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inspected the hybrid double-decker bus and took a ride, while relevant officials briefed her on the service.

The briefing revealed that the double-decker bus service under the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) began in November 2015 during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

These tourist buses cater to a diverse group, including academics, diplomats, state guests, corporate sector representatives, celebrities, and the general public, allowing them to explore various tourist attractions.

In Lahore, the route for the three new tourist buses will extend from Qaddafi Stadium to various sightseeing spots.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that modern and environmentally friendly buses will be provided for metropolitan tourism throughout Punjab.

Recently, the Punjab government has initiated a glass train project that will operate between Rawalpindi and Bhurban in the Murree region.

To oversee this initiative, a task force comprising 18 departments has been established, led by the Punjab Transport Minister, along with key officials including the deputy commissioners of Rawalpindi and Murree.

The 65-kilometre railway route will commence from Saddar in Rawalpindi and traverse picturesque areas such as the Margalla Hills and Barakahu before concluding in Bhurban.
