Clashes in Kurram: Death toll rises to 21 after eight more killed.

The conflict in Kurram District, which erupted over land and trench construction, has now entered its fifth day.

Intense exchanges of gunfire continue intermittently at four locations across the Upper, Lower, and Central tehsils, with both sides targeting each other using various firearms, Express News reported.

The frontline of the conflict was the area of Boshera, where armed men from one faction attempted to construct trenches, sparking clashes that escalated into an all-out battle.

Police report that eight more individuals lost their lives last night, bringing the total death toll to 21 over the five-day period, while more than 30 others have sustained injuries.

Earlier Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur took notice of the incidents and directed the local administration and tribal jirga to urgently work towards a reconciliation process.

Unverified sources indicate that the actual number of fatalities and injuries is significantly higher than the reported figures.

Reports suggest that a jirga has been convened at 10 AM today to discuss a ceasefire. To maintain peace and order, the Kohat Commissioner and the Regional Police Officer have also arrived in Parachinar.

The violence has continued for several days in Kurram district, with both sides employing heavy and automatic weapons against each other. The recent round of fighting has resulted in multiple fatalities and numerous injuries, highlighting the escalating conflict.
