Fans question Ellen DeGeneres' resurfaced Diddy clip after his arrest on federal charge

A resurfaced 2018 clip of Ellen DeGeneres asking Sean "Diddy" Combs to attend her party has gone viral.

A February 2018 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show featuring Sean “Diddy” Combs has resurfaced on social media following the rapper’s recent arrest on federal charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and prostitution. In the clip, Ellen DeGeneres asks Combs if he would be punctual for an upcoming party she was hosting. "Are you gonna be early for my party?" she asks. Combs playfully responded, “Yes I am — No,” before adding, “You know I have to arrive fashionably late” (TheEllenShow, YouTube). DeGeneres responded, “Not too late though. Please,” to which Combs promised, “I’m not gonna let you down on this big one, for real.”

This lighthearted exchange has gained renewed attention due to the serious allegations currently facing the rapper. Combs was arrested in New York City last week on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Prosecutors allege that he hosted "Freak Off" parties, where female victims were lured into sexual acts under the influence of drugs, while being recorded. The indictment claims these recordings were later used for blackmail.

Fans have commented on the resurfaced interview, pointing out the irony in some of the statements made. One user on TikTok remarked, "His whole demeanor and tone was different when he told her ‘I promise I’m not going to let you down.’”

Combs, 54, is currently being held at a federal detention facility in Brooklyn and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. He is awaiting trial. While he is known for hosting high-profile events like his Hamptons White Party, these recent allegations have brought intense scrutiny to his past behavior and public persona.
