Police register cases against PTI leaders

LAHORE:

Police have filed three cases in the last two days against PTI leaders and supporters.

PTI leaders Sheikh Imtiaz and Aliya Hamza, along with others, face charges related to an incident during a PTI rally in Kahna, where they allegedly tore a police officer's uniform and facilitated the escape of Hammad Azhar, a proclaimed offender linked to the violent events of May 9.

According to the FIR lodged at Kahna police station, Hamza is accused of instigating the altercation that led to the police officer's uniform being damaged while enabling Azhar's flight from the scene.

In a separate incident, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has been booked at Batapur police station.

Gandapur, along with 300 unidentified individuals, is accused of leading a violent mob that attacked police officers and vandalised property at the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway.

The FIR filed by Hadyara police includes charges of terrorism and attempted murder, detailing the group's destruction of the toll plaza and their aggression towards the officers present.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that Gandapur's frustration over roadblocks delaying his convoy to a PTI rally triggered the violent response.

Additionally, TikToker Nadeem Mubarak was arrested in Defence C for displaying an unauthorised number plate, "IK-804," in support of the incarcerated PTI leader, Imran Khan.
