Former President Donald Trump took aim at late-night host Jimmy Kimmel during a rally in Pennsylvania on September 23, 2024. Trump criticized Kimmel for mocking him at the Oscars and expressed a desire for the return of iconic host Johnny Carson, who retired in 1992 and passed away in 2005. "He's not very funny," Trump said, referring to Kimmel's recent remarks.

During the rally, Trump played a clip featuring Vice President Kamala Harris discussing fracking, which prompted Jimmy Fallon to joke, “Mamala Kamala just don't give a frack.” Trump responded to Fallon’s past antics, saying, “Where's Johnny Carson? Bring back Johnny. It made you appreciate the greatness of Johnny Carson.”
Trump also denounced Kimmel's performance at the Oscars, particularly a moment where Kimmel read one of Trump's posts on Truth Social. "The stupid guy goes up and... reads my Truth to the entire audience right before the Best Picture,” Trump said, labeling Kimmel as “one of the dumbest human beings ever” for his actions.
He went on to criticize the state of late-night television, saying, “All three of them are bad... The hatred, it’s supposed to be comedy, it’s hatred, it’s terrible,” referring to Kimmel, Fallon, and Stephen Colbert.
Trump’s comments reflect his ongoing criticisms of late-night hosts, highlighting the political divide in comedy today.
