According to Indian media, Malayalam film industry actor and provincial assembly member M Mukesh was charged with rape and sexual assault by his co-actress.

The actor was arrested by the Special Investigation Team and later released on bail.

Mukesh’s lawyer told the media that a medical test was conducted before his release. The Special Investigation Team questioned the actor for two and a half hours.

Actor Mukesh denied the rape allegations, stating that a false case was filed against him because he refused to be blackmailed by the actress.

In recent days, several prominent personalities from the Malayalam film industry have been named in numerous FIRs under charges of sexual harassment.

These cases were filed after the release of the Justice Hema Committee’s report related to the Malayalam film industry. The report revealed that many actors and directors in the industry were involved in the sexual exploitation of actors.
