Vince McMahon has distanced himself from the upcoming Netflix docuseries “Mr. McMahon,”

Former WWE promoter Vince McMahon has publicly distanced himself from Netflix’s new docuseries Mr. McMahon, which is set to be released this week. In a statement, McMahon, who participated in over 200 hours of interviews for the series, expressed disappointment with the show’s depiction of him. “I don’t regret participating in this Netflix documentary,” McMahon stated, but added, “Unfortunately, based on an early partial cut I’ve seen, this doc falls short and takes the predictable path of conflating the ‘Mr. McMahon’ character with my true self, Vince.”

McMahon, 54, is currently facing a federal lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant for sexual misconduct and abuse, as well as a federal investigation. McMahon criticized the series for using out-of-context footage and dated soundbites, saying, “A lot has been misrepresented or left out entirely in an effort to leave viewers intentionally confused.”

Grant’s lawyer, Ann Callis, responded to McMahon’s statement, saying, “Vince McMahon physically and emotionally abused, sexually assaulted and human trafficked Janel Grant for more than two years.” She added that McMahon’s characterization of the abuse as an “affair” was “delusional.”

The Netflix docuseries Mr. McMahon will feature interviews with McMahon and WWE stars, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, John Cena, and Hulk Hogan.
