YDA raises doubts over MDCAT

Doctors and students protest MDCAT paper leak, planning legal action over alleged mismanagement and exam controversy.

Doctors and students voiced their discontent with the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), citing issues related to the release of the paper before time. They are considering filing a court petition and organising protests to challenge the decision.

Young Doctors Association (YDA) Chairman Dr Mehboob Noorani, of the Sindh, has taken a strong stance against the alleged MDCAT paper controversy. The association's legal affairs are being handled by High Court lawyer Muhammad Nawaz Dahri, who has sent a legal notice to University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Sindh chief minister and the chief secretary.

The notice demands the formation of an investigation committee to address the concerns surrounding the paper leak controversy. The paper, which went viral on social media the night before the exam, contained approximately 75% of the actual exam questions. This incident is part of a recurring pattern, with the paper being released prematurely every year a night before the exam. Despite previous attempts to report this issue to the management, no action has been taken.

The MDCAT conducted under DUHS was marred by maladministration, causing inconvenience to candidates and parents. Long queues and chaotic scenes were witnessed at examination centres.

In response to the paper leak allegation, the DUHS administration maintained its stance, denying any official release of the exam paper. Instead, they stated that the viral social media apper appears to be a 'guess paper'.
