Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has renewed his call for Vice President Kamala Harris to retract her claims about working at McDonald's.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform, posting, "Kamala should take down and disavow all of her statements that she worked for McDonald's... She must apologize to the American people for lying!"
Trump's remarks stem from a 2019 incident where Harris, during a picket line with fast-food workers in Las Vegas, stated, "I worked in McDonald’s. I was a student when I was working at McDonald’s." Harris further shared a video of her comments on X (formerly Twitter), claiming she was "doing french fries and ice cream."
As the 2024 presidential race continues, Harris’ campaign released an ad on August 10, reiterating her claim of working at McDonald’s while attending Howard University. The ad highlighted her understanding of middle-class struggles, contrasting it with Trump's economic policies.
Trump first accused Harris of lying about the job at the Moms for Liberty convention on August 30, asserting, “After an exhaustive study... they found out she never worked there." He has continued to mock Harris, sharing an illustration of her in a McDonald's uniform on September 1.
Despite the controversy, McDonald's has not issued any official statement confirming or denying Harris’ employment.
