In the second ODI between England and Australia at Headingley, veteran spinner Adil Rashid made history by reaching his 200th ODI wicket. Adil achieved this milestone by dismissing Glenn Maxwell for 7 in the 28th over.
Maxwell attempted to hit Adil out of the ground but ended up hitting the ball straight to deep mid-wicket, where it was caught easily.
Adil is now England's leading spinner in ODIs, joining Moeen Ali (111) and Graeme Swann (104) as the only spinners to take more than 100 wickets in men's ODIs.
Sophie Ecclestone also has 100 ODI wickets for the women's team.
Adil made his ODI debut in 2009 but had to wait nearly six years to play again. After his comeback, he became a key player in white-ball cricket and formed a strong spin partnership with Moeen Ali.
Adil Rashid's feat is mentioned on the big screen in Headingley.
Despite Adil's achievement, Australia won the match by 68 runs, taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.
This victory also marked Australia’s 14th consecutive win in men’s ODIs, a streak that dates back to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023.
