New York Magazine’s political correspondent Olivia Nuzzi has been placed on leave after disclosing a “personal relationship” with a former subject relevant to the 2024 presidential campaign. This individual is reportedly Robert F. Kennedy Jr., according to Oliver Darcy’s Status newsletter. The relationship allegedly began after Nuzzi profiled Kennedy in November 2023.

In a statement, New York Magazine acknowledged the situation: “Recently, our Washington Correspondent Olivia Nuzzi acknowledged that she had engaged in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign, violating the magazine's standards on conflicts of interest.” The publication emphasized that Nuzzi’s work showed no inaccuracies or bias. However, an internal review and a third-party investigation are currently underway.

Nuzzi issued a statement via CNN reporter Brian Stelter, clarifying that the relationship "was never physical" but admitted it should have been disclosed earlier to avoid any conflict of interest. She added, “I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to my colleagues.”

Kennedy, who has been married to actor Cheryl Hines since 2014, denied any significant relationship with Nuzzi through a representative, stating that they met only once for an interview.
