Diddy accused of plotting armed kidnapping and bombing Kid Cudi’s car over Cassie relationship
Diddy is accused of planning an armed kidnapping as part of a plan to blow up Kid Cudi's car after learning that Cudi was dating his ex-girlfriend, Cassie.
The troubled Bad Boy Records CEO was charged in New York with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution on Tuesday (September 17), with legal documents revealing further details about his alleged offenses.
In a 16-page letter explaining why Diddy should remain in custody without bail until the trial begins (a decision the judge agreed with), federal prosecutors allege that the Hip Hop mogul and an associate once held someone at gunpoint while breaking into Kid Cudi's home.
“In the early morning hours of December 22, 2011, the defendant [Diddy] and a co-conspirator kidnapped an individual at gunpoint to facilitate breaking into and entering the residence of another (‘Individual-1’),” it states. “Multiple witnesses would testify at trial to the events surrounding the kidnapping and break-in, the latter of which is corroborated by police reports and other records.”
The letter also describes the arson: “Approximately two weeks later, the defendant’s co-conspirators set fire to Individual-1’s vehicle by slicing open the car’s convertible top and dropping a Molotov cocktail inside the interior. Police and fire department records extensively document the arson and conclude that the fire was intentionally set.”
Prosecutors further mention that several witnesses are prepared to testify that Diddy “bragg[ed] about his role” in destroying the vehicle.
Although the legal document does not mention Kid Cudi by name, the details match allegations from Cassie’s sexual assault lawsuit filed in November 2023, which set off the case against Diddy.
In her lawsuit, which was swiftly settled, the R&B singer claimed she “had a brief relationship” with Cudi during a "rough patch" in her decade-long relationship with Sean Combs (Diddy's real name).
