Pakistani cueist Asjad Iqbal secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Mongolia Snooker World Cup in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on Wednesday.
In the semi-final, Iqbal faced Michael Georgiou of Cyprus, who narrowly defeated him by 5-4. The match progressed as follows: 85-0, 80(74)-0, 35-64, 15-62, 24-78, 73-36, 11-74, 76-65(65), and 51-08.
Earlier, in the quarter-final, Iqbal had triumphed over Gao Yang of China with a score of 4-3. The match unfolded with the following scores: 76-0, 25-64, 0-135(135), 81(76)-34, 65-64, 50(50)-69(69), and 69-50.
Meanwhile, Ali Gharahgozlou of Iran defeated Pakistan’s Awais Muneer 4-2 in the other quarter-final, with scores of 68-60, 66(58)-64(55), 8-78, 37-65, 66(53)-23, and 111(65)-09.
The final will feature Ali Gharahgozlou of Iran competing against Michael Georgiou of Cyprus.
