HARIPUR:

A police constable's unauthorised visit to his lover's house took an unexpected turn when residents caught him in uniform. The incident occurred in the Sarai Gadai area within the jurisdiction of Kot Najeebullah police station, sparking outrage among the community.

The constable, stationed at Jhari Kas police post, was apprehended by locals who protested the improper use of a police uniform, blocking the road in protest. As tensions escalated, senior police officials, including the SP and DSP, arrived at the scene with additional personnel and arrested the officer, transferring him to the city police station.

DPO Haripur, Farhan Khan, took swift action, ordering the registration of a case against Constable Aamir Shah under sections 452 and 109 of the PPC. Departmental proceedings have also been initiated.

In a public statement, DPO Khan emphasised that no one is above the law and warned that strict action would be taken against any officer found involved in illegal activities. He urged citizens to directly report complaints, aiming to rebuild public trust and strengthen the relationship between the police and the community.

The case underscores the accountability of law enforcement officers and the commitment of the police to uphold the law and protect citizens.
