Taylor Swift thanks boyfriend Travis Kelce in 2024 VMAs acceptance speech

Taylor Swift swept the 2024 MTV VMAs with seven awards, tying Beyoncé’s record, and thanked Travis Kelce.

Taylor Swift reigned supreme at the MTV Video Music Awards, winning seven trophies, including Video of the Year. In her acceptance speech, Swift surprised fans by thanking her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, who had cheered her on during the filming of her "Fortnight" music video. The crowd roared as Swift gushed, “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic.”

However, Swift avoided discussing her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, which she had made after Tuesday night’s debate against Donald Trump.

Swift’s seven awards brought her career total to 30, tying her with Beyoncé for the most MTV VMA wins ever. Post Malone, who won Best Collaboration with Swift for “Fortnight,” praised the singer during his speech, while the show also honored women like Chappell Roan, who won Best New Artist.

The night was full of memorable moments, with Katy Perry receiving the Video Vanguard Award and performances by Eminem, Karol G, and Megan Thee Stallion.
