Intercity bus terminals moved to Super Highway

All intercity illegal bus stands have been shifted to the Super Highway bus terminal, said a Sindh government handout issued on Wednesday.

Action has been taken against 267 intercity bus terminals operating illegally within the city, it said, adding that 35 buses were impounded for violating the decision.

However, the buses were released after the owners gave assurances not to violate the ban in future. Transporters have been warned that their route permits will be cancelled if they violate the rules again.

This was informed to Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi in a meeting held at his office to review the implementation of the decision to shift bus terminal to the Super Highway.

The meeting was attended among others by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, DIG Traffic, all Deputy Commissioners, Secretary Provincial Transport Authority Oakash Memon .

Commissioner was informed that intercity bus stands at Sagheer Hussain Shaheed Road in Saddar, Taj Complex on MA Jinnah Road, Cantt Station, Al-Karam Square, Qayyumabad, and Qalandaria Chowk have been abolished. Free shuttle service is being provided from these locations to the Super Highway.
