Fox News proposes second presidential debate in October

Fox News announced plans to host a second presidential debate in October, sending formal invitations to the campaigns of Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican contender Donald Trump ahead of Tuesday's debate.

The Harris campaign expressed enthusiasm for the idea shortly after the first debate, with adviser Brian Fallon suggesting another round, saying, "That was fun. Let's do it again."

Fox News reportedly proposed holding the debate as early in-person voting begins in several key battleground states, including Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina.

The network has offered Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum as moderators. Trump has previously called for multiple debates before the November election.

The Harris campaign was reportedly planning to announce its interest in a second debate prior to the election, according to The Washington Post.

In their first and possibly only debate on September 11, Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump clashed intensely, with Harris aiming to provoke Trump and highlight his controversial statements.

Harris mocked Trump's rallies and criticised his false claims, including an unfounded accusation about immigrants eating pets in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump, visibly agitated, defended his rallies and denied involvement in the January 6 Capitol siege, while Harris used the debate to argue for moving past Trump's presidency.
