Pakistan’s poor run in the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games continued as Kiran Rana finished fifth in the women’s 1500m race.
Earlier, Pakistan failed to progress in boxing and swimming and Rana’s below-par show, was followed by swimmer Mahnoor Maqsood’s failure to qualify for the main round of the women’s 50m freestyle.
Maqsood finished 25th out of 28 participants after completing the distance in 30.86 seconds. Australia’s Adelaide Hart topped the preliminary round with 25.35 seconds.
The Pakistan Olympic Association had sent a four-member squad to the Games, being held in the Isle of Man, which included two athletes, one swimmer and a boxer.
Raheem Khan will represent the country in the men’s javelin while Maqsood will take part in the 50m backstroke today.
