Crossfire victim's family says it was target killing

Tahaffuz Momineen central committee member was caught in shoot-out between cops, robbers

Relatives of a man killed in alleged crossfire between police and muggers claim that it was an act of target killing.

Syed Kashif Naqvi was a member of the central committee of a Shia organisation, Tahaffuz Momineen Pakistan, his cousin told the media persons at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. "While the police claim the incident was the result of a robbery bid, we suspect it was a targeted killing," he said.

According to police a robber was killed in an exchange of fire between with police near Al-Noor Society, Site Super Highway, while his injured accomplice managed to escape.

A passer-by, later identified as Syed Kashif Naqvi, was also injured in the crossfire. He died during treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

According to SITE Super Highway police station SHO Shehzad Ilyas, two suspects on a motorcycle were robbing an online delivery rider at gunpoint when a patrol part e arrived at the scene.

Police attempted to stop the suspects, but they opened fire and in the ensuing exchange of fire, one robber was killed, while his injured accomplice managed to escape.

During the shootout, a passer-by, Syed Kashif Naqvi, was injured by the fleeing robber's gunfire and was immediately taken to the hospital. Naqvi, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

According to his cousin, Naqvi was a member of the central committee of Tahaffuz Momineen Pakistan. He stated that while the police claim the incident was the result of a robbery, the family suspects it was a targeted killing.
