KARACHI:

Robots developed by Pakistani engineering universities will guide and assist foreign delegates at the upcoming Defense Weapons Exhibition (IDEAS 2024) in November.

This innovative is part of 'Noor Pakistan', a collaborative project of Dawood University of Engineering and Technology and Ziauddin University.

The project, led by Vice Chancellor of Dawood University, Dr Prof Samreen, focuses on developing AI-powered robots to assist delegates at major national events.

The chatbot technology, which will power these robots, is being developed under the guidance of Dr Sheikh Muhammad Nafe of the Computer Science and Software Engineering Department at Ziauddin University. The student team working on this project includes Sharif Khan, Zoha, Muhammad Saeed, among others.

According to Dr Sheikh Muhammad Nafe, the goal of this project is to create an AI-powered chatbot capable of understanding and responding in multiple languages, designed specifically to assist with large-scale events.

The "Noor Pakistan" chatbot made its debut at an IEEE exhibition and will be officially unveiled at IDEAS 2024.

These AI-driven robots will serve as on-the-go guides, helping delegates navigate the exhibition, find their way to various halls and stalls, and answering questions in 25 different languages.

Around 40 such chatbots will be deployed to ensure a seamless experience for the delegates.
