Fahad Mustafa and the potatoes he turned down

Actor discusses alternate career path he didn't take

Actor-producer Fahad Mustafa might have the successful game show Jeeto Pakistan and a bazillion hit dramas under his belt, but the A-lister was not always so sure of his talents. During a recent appearance on a talk show, Fahad revealed that he had other career considerations in mind as well.

When asked which line of work he could have pursued instead, the Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum actor answered, "If I wasn't an actor, my dad would've opened up a biryani shop for me." Upon receiving the audience's gleeful response, he continued, "It's a true story!" He then added details about his friend Faizan Sheikh's wife, actor Maham Amir, whose family is involved in such a business.

"Our parents knew each other, so we were sitting down one day and her mother was explaining to me how this business works. She even told me the specifics of making meat portions! So I believe that's what I would have been doing if I wasn't an actor," he said.

Then, to answer a follow-up question about a key ingredient in the recipe, he jokingly responded, "I don't know whether there would have been potatoes in that biryani or not, but this decision definitely would've made my life one big potato." In response to this, the host Mohib Mirza urged the audience, "Let's thank God that didn't happen and we got Fahad Mustafa instead!" Fahad then concluded, "Why? I would've fed you such nice biryani."

Known for his comedic roles in crime thriller films such as Na Maloom Afraad and Actor in Law, the 41-year-old actor is adored for his quick wit and amicable bearing. This is exceptionally prominent in his decade-long performance as a host on game show Jeeto Pakistan, in which he chiefly interacts with participating individuals from the live audience.
