Teenager dies after quack uses YouTube for failed surgery in India

A fake doctor in India caused a teenager's death by attempting surgery using a YouTube tutorial.

A 15-year-old boy has died after a fake doctorattempted a gallbladder surgery by watching YouTube videos in India's Bihar state.

The boy, Krishna Kumar, was admitted to a local hospital in Patna, Bihar. He was reportedly suffering from severe vomiting.

Doctors diagnosed him with gallstones and suggested surgery, but the family initially refused, believing he had recovered after a drip was adminisered to him.

However, another person Ajit Kumar who identified as a doctor later insisted the surgery was necessary.

During the operation, the boy’s condition deteriorated, and the Kumar, along with his staff, abandoned him at the steps of a larger hospital.

The boy was declared dead shortly after.

The family has lodged a complaint with the local police, alleging negligence and malpractice by Ajit Kumar.

They argue that he lacked qualifications and experience, and his actions resulted in the teenager's death.

A case has been filed against the unqualified doctor and his clinic staff.

The police are carrying out raids to capture Ajit Kumar and his associates.

The teenager's body has been sent for a postmortem examination.

The clinic has been sealed as investigations continue.
