Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) personnel in Karachi have seized a large quantity of heroin concealed in a container of potatoes bound for Sri Lanka.
The ANF acting on inttligence carried out an operation at the Karachi International Container Terminal.
According to an ANF spokesperson, during the inspection of a suspicious refrigerator container, nearly 5 kilograms of heroin were discovered, expertly hidden in 122 potatoes out of a total of 1,198 sacks.
Overall, one to two heroin-filled potatoes were expertly hidden in each of the 80 sacks. The ANF team carefully searched all the heroin-filled potatoes with precision and care.
One suspect has been arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend additional suspects.
The container was booked by a private company, and further raids are expected as the investigation unfolds.
The suspect has been transferred to the ANF police station for further questioning.
