BADIN:

A video of people wading through floodwaters to bury a deceased in Badin has gone viral on social media, showing the plight of flood-hit people who find it difficult even to burry their dead.

Zainab Mallah, an elderly, frail, and sick woman from Abl Wasi village, submerged in floodwater, died due to lack of treatment. Her family and locals carried her body to the graveyard, navigating through the floodwaters.

However, the local cemetery was also flooded, forcing them to shift the body to another location. Locals reported that the entire area is submerged in floodwater, and most cemeteries are underwater, causing difficulties for families to bury their loved ones.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department data, Badin received around 240 millimeters of rain in the last week of August.

Deputy Commissioner Yasir Bhatti said three boats have been given to people marooned by rainwater.
