Authorities in Kentucky have launched a manhunt after several people were injured in a shooting along Interstate 75 near London on Saturday evening.

The incident occurred around 6:00 PM local time, with reports indicating that vehicles were fired upon near the highway.

Seven people sustained injuries, some from gunshots and others from related highway collisions, according to London Mayor Randall Weddle. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office has identified 32-year-old Joseph A. Couch as a person of interest, warning the public that he is considered armed and dangerous.

The shooting reportedly came from a wooded area or an overpass near the highway.

Authorities, including the Kentucky State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), are currently conducting a search in the surrounding rugged terrain.

The public has been advised to avoid the area and report any sightings of Couch to law enforcement.

Governor Andy Beshear stated that the situation is being closely monitored, while hospitals in the region, including Saint Joseph London and the University of Kentucky Medical Center, confirmed they are treating patients with minor injuries from the attack.
