The Handmaid's Tale final season begins filming, Elisabeth Moss directs premiere

The Handmaid's Tale sixth and last season is set to premiere in spring 2025 on Hulu.

Fans of the critically acclaimed dystopian drama, The Handmaid's Tale, can rejoice as production for the final season has officially started. Hulu shared an image of series lead Elisabeth Moss on set, holding a slate that confirms filming began on September 3rd. Moss, who has previously directed episodes in seasons four and five, will also helm the premiere of the sixth and final season.
 

The show's much-awaited conclusion is scheduled to air in spring 2025, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the resolution of June's (Moss) story and the fate of Gilead. Season five ended on a cliffhanger, with June and other refugees escaping Toronto in search of safety and freedom.

Showrunner Bruce Miller, who is stepping down to focus on the sequel series The Testaments, assures viewers that June's survival is integral to the narrative. The final season will be guided by writers and executive producers Eric Tuchman and Yahlin Chang.

The star-studded cast, including Yvonne Strahovski, Bradley Whitford, and Max Minghella, will return for the final season. MGM Television produces the series, with a team of executive producers, including Moss herself.

As The Handmaid's Tale enters its final chapter, anticipation is high for the culmination of this powerful and thought-provoking story. Fans can expect a thrilling and emotionally charged conclusion to June's fight for freedom and the potential downfall of Gilead.
