PAKPATTAN:

A man was killed and his father and brother were injured in a shooting incident linked to a prolonged family feud in Bhila village, Pakpattan.

The violence erupted when assailants targeted the family, leading to a chaotic and tragic confrontation.

Police said the shooting occurred due to an old enmity between the parties. The assailants opened fire, resulting in the on the spot death of 24-year-old Afsal. His father, Muhammad Ali, 50 and brother, Akhtar, 26, sustained injuries. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, transporting the deceased and the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital Pakpattan.

Afsal was pronounced dead on arrival, while Muhammad Ali and Akhtar are reported to be in critical condition. The incident has sparked a significant response from local law enforcement.

Saddar Police have filed a case against Muhammad Khan, Jahangir, and Alladin based on a complaint lodged by Arshad, the brother of the deceased. Authorities have arrested two suspects involved in the attack.

District Police Officer (DPO) Pakpattan, Capt (retd) Tariq Wilayat has taken notice of the incident and emphasised that the investigation will be conducted impartially. He assured that the accused will face appropriate legal consequences.

The roots of the conflict date back two years, when Muhammad Khan allegedly kidnapped Sajda Bibi, the sister of the deceased.

Though a case was filed, it was dismissed after Sajda Bibi's statement. The unresolved issues and ongoing tensions led to the recent fatal violence.

DPO Wilayat stated that the investigation into the murder will be thorough and fair, with a commitment to achieving justice for the victims' family.

In a separate incident, at least two men were killed and two others injured in a road accident on the Okara Bypass Road. A trailer lost control near the GT Road railway gate and collided with two motorcycles.

The collision resulted in the deaths of 32-year-old Arsalan and 27-year-old Anwar.

The injured, identified as 32-year-old Ali Raza and 24-year-old Asad, were rushed to the district hospital for treatment. The driver of the trailer fled the scene.

Emergency services have managed to return the deceased to their families and provide medical care to the injured. The accident has added to the community's grief, following the recent violence in Bhila village.

Both incidents have left the local community in shock and mourning. Authorities continue to investigate the shooting and road accident, aiming to bring those responsible to justice and provide support to the affected families.
