CM pays tributes to mothers of martyrs

Praises role of armed forces on Defence Day

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid respects at the martyrs' memorial and prayed for them on the Defence Day.

She said on the occasion that she also had a chance to meet the families of martyrs.

The chief minister said, "I want to assure my countrymen that our forces are doing a remarkable job in external defence." She said, "Internal defence of the country is the collective responsibility of all of us."

She added, "Martyrs offered their lives for us, protecting their dignity and respecting their sacrifices is our collective responsibility."

The CM said, "Today, I especially want to pay tribute to mothers of the martyrs."

"Our officers and men fight bravely on borders. The spirit of sacrifice under which Pakistan Army sacrifices its lives is nurtured in their mothers' laps."

She said, "I salute the families, children and wives of the martyrs."

Troops saluted the martyrs on the occasion.

In a message to mark the day, the CM said, "Today Pakistan is a nuclear power and our army is more confident than ever. The people stand by the armed forces and will always stand by them. On the Defence Day, I also pay tribute to the great sacrifices of innocent people of Indian Occupied Kashmir."
