The husband of a teacher has been arrested on the suspicion of sexually assaulting five girl students of a non-formal school in the Salim Colony area.
According to the police, the suspect's wife Sajda had set up the school in her home under the aegis of the literacy department.
Local girls were studying in the school and the suspect, Imran, had set up a canteen in a room in it.
The police arrested the suspect and registered five cases against him.
The ages of the victims are between 11 and 14 years.
After the arrest of the suspect, his wife locked the school and went into hiding.
According to local residents, after the revelation of sexual assault on girl students studying in the non-formal school in the Salim Colony area, the parents of the affected girls contacted each other and filed a complaint against the suspect, Imran, at the Saddar police station.
The police acted on the parents' complaint and arrested Imran after registering five cases against him.
A mobile phone has been seized from the suspect.
Gujranwala City Police Officer Ayaz Saleem stated that sexual assault on three girls had been confirmed, while attempts to molest two others had been made.
Cases have been registered against the arrested man under various sections, including assault.
The official said obscene pictures and videos of the victims had also been found in the phone of the suspect.
