Conor McGregor has once again hinted at running in Ireland’s 2025 presidential election, calling himself the "only logical choice" to succeed current President Michael D. Higgins.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the MMA fighter claimed he would have "all the answers" for the Irish people and pledged to hold the "charlatans" in power accountable for their actions.

However, McGregor appeared to misunderstand the president's constitutional powers, stating that he would dissolve the Dáil (Ireland’s lower house of Parliament) if politicians failed to answer to the public. Under the Irish Constitution, the president can only dissolve the Dáil on the advice of the Taoiseach (Prime Minister), meaning this is not a discretionary power.

McGregor wrote, "As president, I hold the power to summon the Dáil as well as dissolve it," warning that he would act to stop what he calls the mismanagement of Ireland’s political system. He further claimed that Ireland needs an active president "employed wholly by the people," reiterating his intention to run in the upcoming election.

Previously, McGregor has also floated the idea of privately funding weekly votes to increase political accountability and engage citizens directly in governance.
