LAHORE:

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan has described the May 9 incident as a "false flag operation," claiming it serves as an "insurance policy" for what he calls an illegitimate government formed through electoral fraud.

The incarcerated leader made these remarks in a statement released on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

Imran asserted that the May 9 narrative was crucial for the current government's survival, warning that once the narrative collapsed, the government and its political influence would also fall.

He pointed out that whenever discussions about negotiations arise, the government resorts to citing the May 9 riots to divert attention. "I want to tell the nation once again that May 9 was orchestrated by those who abducted me and made the CCTV footage disappear," he stated.Reiterating his demand for a high-powered judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9, the PTI founder stressed that those responsible for attacking sensitive installations should be held accountable.
