Several roads in Chakwal have been incomplete and under construction since a long time, which has been causing continued inconvenience and distress for the citizens.
The more than three years of political upheaval has contributed to the present chaotic situation of development projects in the city. Many roads, due to neglect, are now lying in ruins. One such instance is the existence of potholes that are a hazard for vehicles and commuters on the Panwal road – one of the busiest roads, which connects dozens of villages to Chakwal city.
Tenders for the road to be constructed from Tehsil Chowk to Amirpur Mangan were passed from one government to the other, however, due to the incompetence of political leaders, the project could not be completed. The road has now become completely ruined as potholes are leading to the destruction of vehicles and motorcycles, and accidents have become the daily norm.
The situation is much worse during rainy days, when the entire area from Model Bazaar to Janwal Town turns into a pond. Conversely, during the dry season, pedestrians and shopkeepers suffer from diseases resulting from the dust that lingers due to never-ending construction work.
Similarly, potholes have become common at different places on Jabirpur Road.
