Viral tweet falsely claims Tom Hanks is bald and planning to leave the U.S. over Trump presidency
A viral tweet has been circulating on social media, claiming that actor Tom Hanks is bald and intends to leave the United States if Donald Trump is re-elected as President in 2024. The tweet, which has amassed millions of views, included an image of Hanks with a shaved head, leading many to speculate about the actor's current appearance and political stance.

However, the claim is misleading. The image of Hanks with a shaved head was actually taken from a 2020 appearance on The Graham Norton Show, where the actor revealed his bald look was for his role as Colonel Tom Parker in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis Presley biopic. During the show, Hanks humorously remarked, "Let me show you the horrible haircut I have to have in order to portray Colonel Tom Parker," while assuring fans, "Don’t worry now, don’t be afraid. This shaved head was just for a movie and my hair is growing back very slowly."
Regarding the claim that Hanks would leave the country if Trump were re-elected, there is no evidence to support this. While Hanks has expressed concerns about a potential Trump presidency, stating in a June 2024 interview with Christiane Amanpour on CNN, "I think there’s always reason to be worried about the short term," he has not indicated any intention to leave the U.S. if Trump wins.
The tweet has been widely debunked, and Hanks continues to maintain his usual public persona, with no drastic changes in appearance or residence plans.
