Outer Banks star Drew Starkey reflects on working with Daniel Craig in Luca Guadagnino's Queer

Starkey praised Craig as "game for anything" and described the experience as a "masterclass in filmmaking."

Outer Banks star Drew Starkey recently shared his experience working on Luca Guadagnino's upcoming period romance drama, Queer.

In an interview with Interview magazine, Starkey, who plays Eugene Allerton opposite Daniel Craig's Lee, opened up about the challenges and rewards of the role. He described working with Guadagnino as a "dream" and Craig as a "punk" who was "game for anything." Starkey also shed light on the physical transformation he underwent for the role, losing 30 pounds and embracing makeup to portray his character's "feminine features."

Set in 1950s Mexico City, Queer follows Lee, an American ex-pat, and his pursuit of the young student, Allerton. Starkey described his character as having "a lot of verbalizing" and relied on Craig's guidance to effectively convey Allerton's emotions.

The film, which has been acquired by A24, is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 3rd. Starkey's performance, alongside a talented cast including Jason Schwartzman and Lesley Manville, is highly anticipated.
